For the past eleven years, Westminster University has been offering a Post Graduate Certificate in domestic violence. The students who graduate this summer will be the last as the course has fallen victim to the cuts. Led by Peter Harvie, a barrister and Principal Lecturer, the course has offered hundreds of students - many of them survivors - an academic qualification in domestic violence.

Peter Harvie is the kind of educator we all hope to have - always encouraging, endlessly patient and as focused on his students as individuals as he was on academic achievement. He took particular pride in enabling survivors to take his courses and was committed to his work being informed by real life expereinces. To faciltate this, he also found time to co-chair his local Domestic Violence Forum and still acts as Chairr for local Domestic Violence Murder Reviews.

He will be leaving the University of Westminster at the end of July. He will be sorely missed.
