AVA and Survivor Involvement

This section tells you what work AVA is recently/currently doing that has elements of survivor involvement. If you would like more information on any of these pieces of work, feel free to get in touch.

 

  • Focus groups with survivors for LB of Newham
  • Focus groups with parents with children experiencing problematic substance use and displaying abusive behaviours, in partnership with Adfam.
  • Showcasing survivors' creative works: AVA endeavours to showcase films, poems, artworks, opinions or anything else we find, that communicate survivors' voices.
  • Support for GLADA Women's Voices
  • Survivor voices are present on AVA's Board of Trustees.
  • Survivors are vocal partners in the Bristol working group of our Stella Project Mental Health Initiative.
  • AVA's Community Groups Programme esnures that women and children who have been part of groups regularly speak at events and their voices are part of ongoing evaluation.
  • The Children & Young People's Project is conducted research on teenage pregnancy via focus groups with young people who have experienced abuse, in order to inform service delivery.
  • Our prevention work with young people works with survivors.
  • AVA participated in the Government Teen Relationship Abuse campaign, responding to messages from survivors, hosted a live debate on the message board and examined comments in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign.

NEW Rape Crisis National Service Standards
These standards have been developed in recognition of the need to have in place service standards that are specific to sexual violence services and provide a benchmark for excellence.
