Your Message to a Survivor

Our Survivor Involvement Project recognises people that have experienced abuse in some form and go on to become an inspiration!

But not everyone has enough resources to survive alone and not everyone is lucky enough to have a supportive community. For them, we would like to offer a message of support.

We asked a range of practitioners what message they would give to someone experiencing abuse....

"It is not your fault. It is not your fault. It is not your fault. Remember every day that you deserve good things and that you can have them - yes you! Remember too that, even when you feel alone, there are people out there who care deeply about you. Never give up. Keep your hope alive because one day it will transform your life. Love to you, always."

"Please don't give up! Logic says there will be light at the end of the tunnel - so wait for the light….."

"Hold my hand and I will always walk with you, see the light and I will guide you. I will always be with you."

"You are unique and amazing. You have skills and abilities which will amaze you and others in years to come. Every day take a moment and tell yourself you're amazing, every day, even if you don't believe it. Say it! I know it's true."

"I believe in you. I understand that at the moment you don't have the resources to exit, you are worth more. Your star will shine, in the meantime, we are all shining the torch for you. I believe in your strength, your courage, you are a survivor. We are all rooting for you. With love now and after."

"Never give up hope. Even among a lot of darkness there can at some time appear a glimmer of light. However small a crack it is an opening from which growth can come and opportunities to seek freedom. Think of comparison to a potato laying in a sack of darkness - there is always a chance it can move towards the light. Stay focused and determined and never give up."

"Through god you can do anything, let go, let god in your life. Pray to god and he will strengthen you and guide you! God bless."
