Recommendations to the Review of Vulnerable Women in the Criminal Justice System (2007)
We welcomed the Corston Review and were pleased to have the
opportunity to submit the Securing Safety conference
recommendations.
These recommendations were developed in the context of a desire to
better meet the needs of women offenders; some were developed more
explicitly with the new Gender Equality Duty in mind. We submitted
these recommendations specifically to address the issues of
violence and abuse that women offenders have experienced in their
lifetime. We also suggested that the implementation of these
recommendations will assist in reducing re-offending and are
essential to meeting requirements under the Gender Equality Duty.
