Domestic Violence Awareness
Course description
This one day course looks at definitions of domestic violence,
myths and statistics, reasons why it is difficult to leave an
abusive relationship, indicators of domestic violence and how to
provide support to those affected. It will provide you with
information on local and national services available and referral
processes.

- To gain an understanding of the statistics and myths
surrounding domestic violence
- To demonstrate an understanding of reasons why it is difficult
to leave an abusive relationship
- To be able to describe indicators of abuse
- To demonstrate knowledge of the impact of domestic
violence
- To gain an understanding of the appropriate action to be taken
in cases of domestic violence
- To demonstrate an understanding of accountability and
responsibility in relation to domestic violence
- To gain knowledge of local and national relevant support
services.

that work with clients where domestic violence is an issue.
