Introduction to
Spiralling DVD and toolkit
Thangam
Debbonaire
In 2006 DVR designed and developed the tool kit and film
"Spiralling" for Safer Bristol. The original film features the
story of Lucy and Nathan and their group of friends. The story was
developed through a series of workshops led by Becca Manley with
young actors from NYT.
The tool kit contains activities and programmes of work for
children and young people of all ages and abilities, including
drama, quizzes, discussion on the film and other information for
teachers.
GLDVP is working with Domestic Violence Responses to create
guidelines advising schools as to how to locate prevention work
within the curriculum. As there are currently no guidelines
around good practice in domestic violence prevention programmes
these guidelines will also advise schools as to what to expect both
from the programmes and the facilitators.
National
Youth Theatre Peer Educators
Four young actors gave delegates a taste of their work in schools
using Forum theatre techniques.
Ealier this
year, 15 peer educators from the National Youth Theatre undertook a
four day training programme to develop their skills and drama
techniques to work with established domestic violence prevention
projects in schools in three London boroughs. Click
