In November 2006 GLDVP held a film
night to celebrate the friends and family of women and children
that have or are experiencing violence and abuse.
A new leaflet for friends and
family members, with information on how to help and support women
experiencing domestic violence, was also launched at this
event.
We were joined by Frank Mullane,
the brother of Julia Pemberton who, along with her young son, was
murdered by her husband. He spoke about the importance of
this leaflet and how he would have benefited from having had this
information at the time.
There was a screening of
V-Day - Until The Violence Stops, Abby
Epstein's remarkable documentary of the stories and experiences of
communities affected by violence against women through the V-Day
movement. The film is a celebration of women reclaiming their
bodies and lives, leaving us with hope that change can happen.
